Green with Envy

In the 15th Century brides used to be green with envy, literally. Brides would waltz down the aisle in a puffy green number. How times have changed! Now you will be lucky to get your bridesmaids on board with a green themed wedding, without any of them worrying that they are going to look like a giant cabbage on your wedding day.
Although you might have a few sulking bridesmaids, green is actually a very sophisticated colour if done correctly, with plenty of fabulous shades to choose from. So, if green is your colour of choice, then here are some ideas to make it look wonderful.
Green is great - it is superb for any season. Darker shades mixed with browns in autumn; emerald greens with white for a cosy winter wedding; getting lighter sage colours as we head towards spring; followed with pastel minty greens for summer. Green represents every season in its own wonderful way. There’s something so soothing and tranquil that it can be paired up with plenty of other lovely colours.

The lighter the shade of green, the easier you will find it to match other colours. When chatting recently with Lily Rose flowers, Morpeth, we were informed that olive hunter greens look gorgeous with neutral colours; giving your wedding an earthy feel. If you are planning a vintage affair, then pastel colours mix well, like pale pinks and blues.
If you decide to go for a more luxurious deep jade or even emerald green, don’t go overboard unless you intend to have a real regal feel to your wedding. Remember the flowers in your bouquet and on your tables will be filled with greenery, so it’s best to keep it in small doses.
Remember, red and green should never be seen! Red will not only be too bold of a colour to be a backdrop for green, but they will clash like crazy. Green is a tricky colour to pull off but can look stunning, there are so many shades you are bound to find one that fits your wedding colour scheme perfectly.
Other lovely touches to accompany your rural green colour scheme come from the small details, such as green sashes on the back of chairs, or a small foliage of greenery. Also old milk bottle as centre pieces in old vintage wood holders filled with greenery; simple, but elegant touches.
This favour idea from www.plantmemory.com is a fabulous way to bring the outdoors inside, and it works great as a place card at the same time.
